Colson- 13 Months old

  Sweet boy is 13 months old today!  

What is going on?

1. WALKING!  2 days after his birthday he started walking- and I don't mean taking a step or two.  I mean walking!  He just decided he was ready and he took off.  

2. Communication.  He now will say Dada, MaMa, Bubba, Bye bye (with a wave) and he will sign "more".  He is very good about communicating what he wants either verbally or non verbally.  He also has this lovely  high-pitch shriek that he is a fan of.  It is ear piercing and I'm ready for him to drop that :)  

3. Eating- he is still a good eater.  He eats what we eat, in smaller pieces.  His favorite food is most defiantly blueberries.  

4. Surgery. I posted about this yesterday but this month he had tubes put in and had his cyst removed above his eye.

5. Sleeping- Fox is Colson's favorite. He sleeps with him and chews on his tail.  He also sleeps with a pillow and blanket.  He likes to be covered up and goes to bed really happily.  He still isn't the best at sleeping all night long or taking good naps.  I'm hoping the tubes will help with that!

6. Playing OUTSIDE!  He loves to be outside!  He usually cries when I bring him back inside.  If the girls are out playing and I make him stay inside he stands at the back door banging on the glass.  He needs to be a little older so I can let him go out without me because he would spend all day outside if I let him!

Colson- surgery day

Last week we had an MRI on the dermoid cyst above Colson's left eye.  The MRI was a stressful process since he had to be put under anesthesia for the imaging.  We had it done at Dell Children's and everyone was great.  Jared took the job of handing Colson over to the nurse at the end of the hallway.  Colson cried and was grabbing for his Daddy- HARD. TO. HANDLE.

Praise the Lord the results came back saying the cyst was not connected to anything, so we were free to have it removed.  Since Colson has had at least 7 ear infections he needed tubes, so today was the big day.

My wonderful mother came to keep both the girls while Jared and I took Colson to the surgery center. We were not looking forward to today, but the Lord had his hand over Colson and it all went great!  He left with the nurse without a peep and was gone for about an hour and a half.  We he came back to the recovery room where we were he chugged apple juice from a bottle and was pretty sleepy and content- at least compared to how he came out of the MRI, crying and restless.  Now we are praying these tubes are the solution to fix his ears and we are so thankful the cyst was nothing more!

Katelyn- 5 1/2 yrs old

Sweet Katelyn is 5 1/2 years old.  She is a blessing and a joy.  I can't believe how fast she is growing up.  Her little personality is so fun to watch.  She is absolutely a little momma, and not just to Colson and Adelyn.  Yesterday we were walking out of the YMCA and our little friend Reese (15 months) was walking.  She headed toward the street and Katelyn quickly ran over and redirected her toward us.  She is always looking out for little kids and takes pride in doing so.  She will tell me about what little kid she was watching out for in playcourt or at a playground.  

Katelyn LOVES games and crafts.  She is independent and will go get her supplies, make what she wants and then proudly show me when she is finished.  

Katelyn is a good eater.  She likes to eat healthy foods and has even restricted foods that she says are 'sugar-bugs'.  

Katelyn doesn't nap, although she will lay down and rest for 30 minutes if I tell her to.  She sleeps from 8-7, maybe waking a little earlier but she will play in her room with Adelyn until 7.

Katelyn is a big helper around the house and enjoys helping with chores.  Although sometimes she doesn't understand why she has to help more than Adelyn.

Katelyn has lost 2 teeth recently.  She pulled one herself and she was very proud.  Another one is wiggly and she keeps working on it; she wants the tooth fairy to come again!

Katelyn loves school and is doing great.  She is smart and I always hear a good report from Mrs. V.

Adelyn- 3 yrs old

What a difference a year makes!   

Today is Adelyn's 3rd birthday.  She is such a sweet girl, and she keep us laughing all the time!  Adelyn quite enjoys doing or saying things just to get a laugh.  She has a quirky sense of humor and a short attention span.  

She is an obedient little lady, although we are working on obeying right away- instead of waiting until she is ready ;) 

She loves Colson and is enjoying him more and more each day.  She likes to play him, for short spurts- remember, short attention span! 

Adelyn likes to make silly faces just because.  She would rather pose for the camera in a silly way than a normal smile.  Adelyn is a good little eater, she will eat pretty much anything and everything.  She gets into trouble at the table the most because she gets busy playing (usually with KG or CJ) and forgets to eat.  Adelyn likes to color and make crafts, but she is more into speed than accuracy (or as Katelyn calls it- scribble-scrabble) 

Adelyn loves the water and did great at her swim lessons.  Her biggest problem is that she just isn't big enough yet.  They wanted her to do big strokes with her arms and they just couldn't move that way quite yet! 

Adelyn is laid back and often is in her own world.  She is happy to play by herself or with friends.  She has little fear and will try just about anything.  

Her very best friend is Katelyn.  She is willing to play whatever games Katelyn wants (however she doesn't last long playing war...attention span).  She is getting really good at Go Fish! 

I am so blessed by this little girl.  She shows such love and grace to KG and CJ.  I am so excited to see what her 3 year has in store for us.  I can only imagine great and wonderful things from this precious little lady!  Happy birthday Adelyn! We love you sweet girl!
