Monday Play Day

Today we planned a fun play day with our good friends Miss Jennie, Heidi and Lylah Grace.  We met at Terra Burger (over-priced but good food and a fun play area).  Katelyn and Heidi haven't seen each other in a while, but that didn't matter, they played like best buddies!
Here is Heidi 'catching' Katelyn coming down the slide.
Then all three big girls decided to go down the slide at one time... Okay, it didn't turn out to be all at once, but close enough ;)
Lylah Grace has grown up so much since we last saw her.  She is such a cutie, just like her sister!
Although Adelyn didn't participate in the slides, she had plenty of fun in mommy's arms watching and in the swing.  She is a swinging little monkey.  She would sit in a swing for 1/2 an hour or more if I'd let her.
Fun day with fun friends!  Thanks for hanging out with us Dawes' girls!

This morning Katelyn was telling me how she wants to have a brother when "we are finished with Adelyn".  I then asked her what we should name him if we do actually have a boy eventually, her response = the enemy!  Of course then we had to first talk about how we will never be finished with Adelyn, and then that we are not enemies with each other... I still had to laugh a little though :)

Road-Tripping to Kansas

We loaded up and headed to Kansas a few weeks ago to visit with Sarah and attend a special service at her church before Sarah's heads out.  It was about an 8 hour drive and the girls did AMAZING!  They were both easily entertained, and didn't seem to mind being confined to their carseats for a day.
Once we arrived in Kansas SaSa had some fun things planned for us.  We went to a big game place (can't remember the name), but we all had a great time, especially Katelyn.
We then went to the Wichita Pet 5-star resort, also known as the Humane Society.  Seriously, this place was pretty amazing!
Each dog had it's own condo that was about 8x8 room complete with bed and toys.  They had visitation rooms where you could go visit with a pet that you were thinking about adopting.  They also had 'kitty-city' rooms where you could go and play with cats in a big room that was decked out with tons of toys. Katelyn was in heaven!
Sunday night we went to Sarah's service.
We were so thankful to see how her church family has wrapped their arms around her in love as she prepares to follow where the Lord has lead her.  It was a special night of stories, encouragement and prayers as she prepares to go.  We love SaSa and are so proud of what she is doing and are so thankful that her Church family also shares in our love.  Here is a pictures of some of the men of her church praying over her- how special!
We had a great time in Kansas and were lucky enough to see SaSa again the next weekend in Amarillo- that will be coming on another blog post.

Sisterly Love

I was vacuuming the carpet today while Katelyn and Adelyn were playing in Katelyn's room.  I went in to check on them and this is what I hear from Katelyn as I approach (in her sweetest "mommy" voice), "Adelyn, will you please leave me alone?  Please?  I would really appreciate it.  I really would, I promise I'd appreciate it.  Please?   Will you please leave me alone?  Do you want a hug before you leave me alone?"  I then peak my head around the corner to see what is going on.  Katelyn proceeds to hug Adelyn then say, "Okay, it's time for you to leave me alone now.  Thank you!"  Curious what Adelyn would do, I lingered a while.  She promptly turned herself around and crawled away just as Katelyn had asked.  Then the kicker, Katelyn yells (in her not so nice "mommy" voice), "HEY- ADELYN- GET BACK HERE NOW!!!" and then grabs her feet to drag her back....

Adelyn- 10 Months Old

Well, I will be 10 months old in 2 days!  I was going to wait until my actual 10 month birthday to post this, but we are going to be in Amarillo, so I went ahead and posted it early.

This month I celebrated Jesus' birthday for the first time.  We flew up to Washington to spend Christmas with Nanny, PawPaw, SaSa, Uncle James, Stormi, Caleb, Micah and Ellie.  I had a great time in Washington and did great on the flight too.  I cried for a few minutes here and there, but nothing too bad.
This Christmas was extra special because it is the last holiday we will get to celebrate with SaSa for a while.  We also drove up to see SaSa in Kansas this month.  Mommy says she is going to blog another post about that later.
I also enjoyed spending Christmas with all of my cousins.  Even though I am too little to really play with them, I sure enjoyed watching them, and crawling on them when they would let me.  Caleb was really good about being gentle with me when I would crawl on him.  He would laugh and thought it was pretty funny.
One of my favorite things this month is finger food!  I love to feed myself little pieces of waffle, banana, cheerios, sweet potato, pancake, or bread.   Here I am eating some yummy pumpkin pancakes.
Mommy is having trouble finding good finger foods for me because I still only have my bottom two teeth.  She says next month we are going to try some steamed apples, carrots and other fruit/veggies.

This month was also my first New Years.  Here I am with mommy about to go to bed on New Years day- Happy 2011!
I was pretty sick for much of this month.  I had my first ear infection but was still in a very good mood considering.  I didn't have the typical signs (pulling at ears, not sleeping), instead I started having drainage and coughing really badly.  Mommy realized that Katelyn had been doing the exact same thing and the doctor had diagnosed her with double ear infection.  Sure enough, I also had an ear infection.  At the doctor appointment we realized that I am still losing weight which concerned the doctor.  I am going back next week for a weight check and hopefully they can figure out what is going on.
I am still crawling everywhere and am now pulling up on just about everything!  I still can't stand on my own, but that is okay Mommy says.  She doesn't want me growing up too fast!
I have started giving big open mouth kisses this month.  It is really fun giving kisses, but I have to be in the mood to give a kiss.  I also started sleeping with my mouse and Nanny blanket this month.  I will stay covered up most of the night, unlike my sister who won't stay covered up for 5 minutes!  This month I have discovered that I enjoy putting objects inside containers.  This toy that Nanny and PawPaw got for me is perfect for that.  Just this morning Mommy caught me trying to put some toys in the trash can!
Well, I think that just about wraps this last month up.  I will leave you with this silly picture of me and Daddy.  I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year- Adelyn Elizabeth

Katelyn's quote from last night

Last night Jared was reading Katelyn her Bible story before going to bed.  It asked what she wanted to be when she grows up.  Her answer: A Princess!  You will always be our special princess Katelyn and you will always be a daughter of The King!!!

HSU New Year Reunion 2011

This year we had our annual HSU New Year Reunion with most of HSU crew.  We had so much fun catching up with everyone, laughing, playing, and eating.  Thursday night Ben and Ashlee (or Uncle Ben and Auntie Ash according to Katelyn) came to town.  We went to dinner while my sweet sister kept the girls for us.  We went out to Hudson's on the Bend (because Jared had a coupon).  It was great food and great company.

Even though we didn't meet and become friends until close to the end of our time at HSU, Ashlee is one of my dearest friends.
Jared and Ben were roommates all four years, except the first week their freshman year.  We thank God for our friendship with Ben and Ashlee.
The next day Cody and Allison drove in from College Station.  Katelyn got ahold of my camera and took this pictures of Allison.  It was a joy getting to catch up with a sweet friend.  We were roommates my sophomore and junior year... ahhh, the house on Burger Street, what fun times!
Friday afternoon we had lots of other friends show up.  One of Katelyn's favorites was Brinley.  They had lots of fun making hats, 'sharing' toys (which Katelyn still needs some work on), and singing songs with Miss Amy.

Here is Rocky and Amy getting ready to ring in the new year with the super cool 2011 glasses that I bought for the kids!  Rocky and Jared lived together our senior year as well as Amy and I our senior year.  That was a fun year- full of engagements, wedding planning, graduations... We are so blessed to know this sweet family.
Here is Ben and Jeremy enjoying the girls party hats... I think I should have made enough for the adults too!
Saturday night my sweet sister again came to the rescue.  She came over with a friend to babysit while we all headed out to dinner at a home-cookin' restaurant downtown.  Here is Adelyn all ready for bed before we headed out.
Here is KK and her daughter Brailey who is sound asleep on the couch.  I was amazed that she could sleep through all the noise going on in the living room.
Here are pictures from the restaurant.  Starting out with Jared and I.
Here is Derek and Jenny.  Derek and Jared were roommates our senior year at the Westview house.
Here is Chad and KK.  Chad and Jared were roommates our senior year at the Westview house and KK and I were roommates junior year at the Burger house with Allison.
Another picture of Rocky and Amy- minus the 2011 glasses.
After dinner we walked on over to the Melting Pot for dessert.  Can you see how excited the ladies were about chocolate? (Ashlee, the melting pot said to tell you it missed seeing you)!

We had a great time with such wonderful friends.  I am already excited about HSU New Year Reunion 2012!  Here is the whole crew who made it, expect Brad and Kacey who had already left to put thier kids to bed.  What a special group of people!
