This Christmas we had a great time in Washington with the Hughes family. Jared was able to take off a whole week of work, so we flew in on a Friday night late and didn't come back home until the next Sunday. Jean and Stanley (aka Nanny and PawPaw) are always such gracious hosts and are so special to us.
This trip was extra special because it was our last Christmas with SaSa for a while. We love Sarah so much and are so proud and excited to see what the Lord has for her over the next few years! We also got to spend this Christmas with James, Stormi, Caleb, Micah and Ellie. They are such a sweet family and we always have fun hanging out with them!
We flew in on Friday night late, and when we woke up, there was snow covering the ground!!! Since we rarely get snow in Austin (and never this much) it was a special treat to have snow. Jared was great at pulling the sled.
Katelyn didn't stop smiling while we were playing tn the snow. Her face was pure JOY the whole time!
We made a snowman, Katelyn named him Frosty.
One day we headed to Chuck E. Cheese for a little fun. Katelyn and Micah enjoyed riding the firetruck. Adelyn couldn't exactly participate in any of the games, but she and Nanny had a good time hanging out together.
Caleb rode this clock ride. I was highly disappointed. I expected it to go all the way in a circle, but all it did was go back and forth from 3 down to 9, reeeeeaaaalllllyyyy sllllloooowwwwwlllllyyyy!!! Of course Caleb still thought it was fun enough.
Christmas at the Hughes wouldn't be complete without lots of Catan playing. They even have a table set up specifically for Catan!
Here is Jared giving the big kids a horse ride around the living room. Poor Micah didn't have quite enough room and kept falling off the back.
Here is Jared and Sarah showing how much they love each other :)
At the Christmas Eve service the big kids were a part of the live preschool nativity. Caleb was Joseph and did a great job- he was a very humble Joseph, just like I imagine the real Joseph being. Micah was a shephard who was woken up they the angels, which is was Katelyn played. Micah was a great shephard and Katelyn was a sweet angel.
She lingered for quite a while when it was time for her to get off the stage, the congregation was all laughing.
Here is Katelyn after the Christmas Eve service.
And here is Adelyn after the Christmas Eve service.
One day the big kids were playing outside and Caleb built this snowman all by himself. It has to be the most precious snowman I've ever seen! I asked what the snowman's name was: Caleb!
Here is everyone, except PawPaw who is behind the camera, ready for the Christmas Eve meal... MMMMM, makes me hungry just to think about it!
Nanny made cupcakes for the big kids to decorate for Jesus' birthday dinner. Here they are ready to decorate!
As you can see from most of the pictures, Katelyn quite enjoyed playing with the big kids. Ellie and Adelyn just enjoyed playing by themselves. I think next year Katelyn and Ellie will have a grand time together. Ellie is such a sweet little girl, and I do mean girl! She loves dolls, strollers and even Sarah's old play-pen for her baby dolls. Speaking of baby dolls, she looks like a doll!!!
Adelyn was happy being carried around, practicing her crawling skills and chewing on whatever toy should could get her hands on. Here she is with PawPaw at the Christmas Eve Service. I asked him if he wanted me to take her and he said, "No, I want to go show her off."
Here she is with SaSa.
Christmas morning the girls were in their Santa pj's playing.
Before we opened presents we had to get a picture of all the kids.
Merry Christmas!
