Lunch with Dada

Katelyn and Adelyn have been trading off being sick for the last few weeks.  They were both finally healthy on Monday so we loaded up and headed downtown for lunch with Dada/Daddy/Jared.  This picture was actually taken after lunch.  Adelyn was ready for her nap, hence the thumb in the mouth.
We ate lunch at Which-wich (a sandwich shop a few blocks from Jared's office).  Adelyn enjoyed the decorations and lunch that was brought from home.
Katelyn enjoyed her sandwich and shared some of it with Jared.
I enjoyed being able to get out of the house, not have any sick kids, and getting to see my hubby in the middle of the day!
I think Katelyn's favorite part was the special treat that Jared gave her, okay special treats...  Chocolate teddy grahams, gatorade and several coins for her to put in her 'piggy tank'.  She asked Tuesday and Wednesday if we get to go back to daddy's office...  She loves her daddy!

Thankful Thursday

Thank you Lord for these two precious girls!

Adelyn- 11 Months Old

I can't believe you are already 11 months old!  This month, much like the other 10 months, has flown by.  You are still super sweet and such a joy.  You are turning into a little talker.  You learned your first word this month- video at the end of the post!  You are now in your big girl car seat, but you are still rear-facing.
You grew 3 teeth this month making a grand total of 5.  Number 6 will be in soon, but for the meantime, everything goes in your mouth!
You are really enjoying playing with toys these days.  You will play with one toy for an extended period of time.  These drums are a favorite of yours.
You love to eat!  Pizza is a new favorite (see pic below).  You love pears and can eat them uncooked if they are soft enough.  You like grilled cheese, bananas, oatmeal, yogurt, quesadilla's, waffles, steamed apples, steamed carrots, sweet potatoes, and pretty much whatever else I put in front of you.  You know how to ask for a drink- you start to whine and shake your hand.  You like to drink milk or juice from a sippy, but you won't hold it up yourself.  You eat like your daddy- you inhale your food... meaning, you eat really fast!  You shove piece after piece in your mouth.  I worry about you choking, but you never do.  You just take after your daddy!
You stand up all the time, but you have to have your hand on something or else you fall down.  You can walk behind your lion, but after a few steps you usually stop walking and just start chewing on the handles.
It was pretty cold this month so we didn't spend much time outside.  We did however spend a lot of time standing in Katelyn's window looking out.  You love to do this, just like your sister used to!
You love babies!  You were playing peek-a-boo with this one when I took the picture.  When you see one you sit and stare.  You smile at the baby like a little mommy.
Oh and you have found the joy in the small things this month- empty box = tons of fun!!!
Mommy's Tupperware cabinet = even more fun!!!
You love to open/close cabinet doors, but this is the only one Mommy lets you play in.
Sweet Adelyn, I LOVE this face that you make!  You breath in and out your nose quickly and stick out your lips.  It is precious!
Katelyn and you play okay together.  You are getting a mind of your own which can frustrate Katelyn because she still wants you to do what she wants, when she wants!  You usually would prefer to just play with toys by yourself.
You have been a little sick this month, congestion and coughing.  Even with that you have still been a sweet little girl.  You are a little antsy when it is meal time.  When you are hungry, you want to eat, NOW!  Hence why I'm so glad you found ways to occupy your time in the kitchen playing with empty boxes and the tupperware cabinet. You are a great sleeper.  You go to bed quickly and quietly.  When you wake up you sit up at the edge of your crib and dangle your legs out the side.  You still give big open-mouth slobbery kisses- I love them, even though they do require a napkin to wipe them off  :)

Here you are saying your first word- DaDa!
Thanks you sweet girl for another wonderful month.  I can't believe your next month will be your 1st birthday!!!  You are a precious gift and I love you so, so much!

T

We have been working on writing Katelyn's name.  She is quite the pro at spelling it out loud.  She has mastered writing the A and recognizes K all the time.  She was eating lunch one day (or playing with her food, you decide), when says exclaims, "Mommy, look, I made a T!"  Even if she was playing I was still proud of her T so I took her picture with it.
She then wanted me to take her picture eating it... Okay, here that picture is too :)

Snow in Austin!

Last Monday evening we went for a jog.  I wore shorts and a t-shirt, it was 80 degrees.  The next day it was bitterly cold which lasted all week and then it finally snowed on Friday.  When Katelyn woke up on Friday morning we went to look out her window at the snow.  She loved it, but insisted she would only play in it if it turned pink.  The snow only lasted a few hours so we played while it was there, and no, it didn't turn pink- but she still played in it!
Jared got to work from home that day because they were afraid the roads would be bad (I love how Austin shuts down when we have cold weather!).  We enjoyed having Jared home an extra day even though he worked most of it.  He did take several breaks to come play.  Here he is practicing his snowball throwing skills at Katelyn.
We tried to make a snowman, but it turned into a snow-hill.  Oh well....
We spent most of last week inside due to the cold weather.  Here the girls are looking out the window, hoping/praying for warmer weather.
Okay, maybe that was just me praying for warmer weather.  Katelyn was truly distraught when the snow melted.  She wanted it to come back so she prayed out loud for God to send more snow...

Katelyn's quote for the day

It is nap time for Katelyn. She was busy playing magna-doodle so I told her to take it to bed and just put it on her table when she was finished.  She said okay and ran off to bed.  About 30 seconds later she pops her head out the door and asks me if she can talk to God when she finished playing.  I said of course then asked her what she was going to talk to God about.  She said she was  going to talk to God about Adelyn and tell him sorry...  I'm not sure what she plans to tell him about Adelyn or why she needs to tell him sorry, but I love that she wants to talk to God!  Love my sweet Katelyn and pray she always wants to talk to God!
