Breaking News!

Look who is walking!
It was right before bedtime and I told her to go give Daddy kisses.  I stood her up and she took 5 or 6 steps right to him.  I was so glad Jared was home to see her walk for the first time.  Then of course we got the video camera out and spent the next 15 minutes trying to get her to do it again....

Katelyn- Woman of many words

Yesterday Katelyn and I emailed Jared a picture of her working on her writing skills.  He wrote back how proud he was and that he loved her.  Katelyn wanted to email him back and so here is what she said...

Love Daddy. I love him. Hug him. play with him. Play with Adelyn. Play with mommy. I love Adelyn. I love all of you. I want to eat with Daddy tonight. I want to play with Daddy tonight. I want to play on my tea set. I love Adelyn's shirt. I love Katelyn's shirt. I love the A on my name. Love daddy. I love Mommy. I love mommy's shirt. I love Daddy's shirt. I like the computer. I like daddy's computer. I love all of you and me. I love lessons. I write my name. I like everything you need for me to do. I always love you, all day long. I love my number 1. I braked my flower on my shoe. I love mommy's bracelet. I love always to remember to go to church on Sunday morning. I like to go to Bible study on Friday morning on Saturday morning. I'm going to Bible study all day long. I opened the drawer. I love all of you, to make sure you are all okay. I love my email. I still have more lessons. I love always turners. I love always you and me. Just know you are special. Love you too!

KATELYN (she typed her name all by herself)

Oh my sweet, rambling child- I love you and you make me laugh!

KG writing her name

Katelyn has been working on writing her name and is getting pretty good at it. Here is the play-by-play from this morning while she was "doing her lessons".  Okay, starting out nice and focused.
Letter K, done.
Look at the perfect grip on her marker, good job Katelyn!
Okay, still focused on her "lesson".  Nice work
All done with the first time around.  She wasn't pleased with the N though so we had to erase and start
again.
Nice concentration and grip on the marker.
Making good progress...
Ta-da!  Good job Katelyn!

Amarillo by morning

Okay, this post is really, really behind.  We went to Amarillo in January, but I just got the pictures onto my computer- so here it goes!

We went to Amarillo in January to hang out with the Hughes family. Adelyn was yet to meet Memolly and Pepolly, plus Sarah, Jean, Stanley, James and Ellie were all going to be there. So, the girls and I drove up over the course of 2 days and Jared flew in a day later. It was wonderful getting to see the whole family.

Here is Jared with Peep and Adelyn.
Here is Stanley with his sisters and brother (Beverly, Barbara Kay, Tina and Bryan)
Here is Adelyn giving Meep a kiss.
and here is Katelyn giving Meep a kiss.
We didn't really get a good picture of the four of us with Meep and Peep- this is the best one we got.
Here is Memolly and Pepolly.  Meep was reading cards that everyone got for her, Peep's idea.  It was a very special night to spend with them.  Very emotional and sweet.
After Meep read her cards we all went around and prayer over Sarah who will be following where God has lead her in July.
Here we all are around Meep and Peep.
The next day Bryan took us four-wheeling at a ranch outside of town... Talk about fun!

Look at sweet Ellie Anna!  What a cutie pie!
Ahhh, what a fun trip!

Adelyn's birthday party/weekend

Last week we were so excited to have Nanny and PawPaw come stay with us!  It is always a special treat to get to see them, and this visit was no different.
What was different about this visit was the amount of work it involved!  We bought the girls a playscape for the backyard.  We were thinking it would take Jared and Stanley about a day to set it up.  We started it Wednesday night.  Jean and I labeled all the pieces since not-a-one was labeled.
The next morning we all got to work.  Jean and I prepared all the pieces for each step while Jared and Stanley got to work...
Here is the progress Thursday night.
Friday afternoon they are getting closer...
Saturday about mid-day, they finally finished!  I'm not sure if they are ever going to want to come back to visit because they might be afraid of the physical labor we put them through!  In all seriousness, we are so beyond grateful for their help, I don't know how or when Jared and I would have been able to do this ourselves!  Katelyn loves her 'tea set' as she is calling it!
Katelyn also loved spending so much time with Nanny.  Many books were read, games were played and memories were made between these two this week!
Here is PawPaw and the birthday girl before her party...
And here is Nanny getting some Adelyn time in!
We have been working on getting Adelyn to walk.  Katelyn loves to 'help' her walk.  Katelyn actually does a pretty good job, most of the time.
Then when Adelyn is finished practicing walking and starts to crawl, KG makes a choo choo train...
Here is Adelyn standing up unassisted for the first time ever!  She now does it multiple times a day, but this is her first!
We always have to have PawPaw's famous mickey mouse pancakes.
One afternoon we went to the duck pond to feed the ducks (who should be on The Biggest Loser because they were huge!).  Stanley snapped this pictures of Jared and Adelyn- I love it!
Saturday afternoon we had Adelyn's 1st birthday party.
Bubba and JoJo came down for the party.

So did Byron and Meggie.
I think they look like models out of a catalog in this picture!
Here is Meggie with the birthday girl!
Speaking of birthday girl, here she is!
Apparently she doesn't like to crawl on her knees on the ground because she was bear-crawling all afternoon.
She was also working on her standing skills.  She is getting pretty good.
The boys had to play a manly game of who can swing on the handles... Here is Jared

and here is Byron.

JoJo and Adelyn spending a little cuddle time.
I was trying to get a picture of her in her "1" birthday shirt, but she didn't cooperate very well.  Here is the best I could get.
GeraBeth, Jason and Joshua also came over for the party.
Okay, it's party time.  Hat = check
Hat for birthday girl #2 = check
Messy face cupcake eater = check
Presents = check
We had a great week with Nanny and PawPaw, a great party with family and are now all going through Nanny and PawPaw withdraws.
