Austin Children's Museum

On Monday morning I decided to venture out with the girls to visit the Austin Children's Museum. It was the first time for Katelyn to go to the museum and she LOVED it! It was Adelyn's first time too, but she just slept the whole time. Monday mornings it is open for kids 3 and under only which was perfect for Katelyn, no big kids to dodge! Let me go ahead and warn you, Katelyn was having such a good time she would barely look at me to get a good picture!

As soon as we arrived they were having story time. I was expecting Katelyn to be the loudest, most involved one because she is usually such a talker. However, she was completely shy and only wanted to sit in my lap. After story time was over they gave stickers and she would barely leave my side to go get one! When story time was over we headed to the 'construction' section of the museum and Katelyn really got into driving the "tracker that is just like Bubba's".

After the construction play, we met back up in the lobby for song and parachute time. Again I was expecting her to give a big performance since she knew the songs they were singing, but nope, NOTHING!!! She sat quietly on my knee and watched everyone else sing.

When they got the parachute out she got quite excited to run around under it!

After the song/parachute time we headed to the kitchen to play. I think she would have stayed here for an hour had I not pulled her away.

Next we headed upstairs to the train depot. This was the biggest surprise of the morning. She LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the train! She was laughing, squealing with joy, running here and there to watch the train- it was fun to watch her having such a good time! In one room they even had a telescope to watch the train, I think she was glued to that telescope for a good 20 minutes! After the museum we walked a few blocks to Jared's office to have lunch with him before heading home. Here is what Adelyn did all morning- SLEEP!

After lunch we went home so that Katelyn could take a nap. I happened to snap this picture last night before the girls went to bed, so I thought I'd add it to the end of this blog posting- aren't they beautiful!!!

A few weeks ago while Bryan and Laurie were visiting, Katelyn decided to put on a concert for us all. I didn't get the 1st song on video, however she was more than happy to oblige us with an encore presentation of "I Can Only Imagine". She loves being in the spotlight, can you tell?!?

We have another talker on our hands!

My sweet little lady is 'talking' and cooing up a storm these days. I'm sorry about my annoying baby talk voice, I honestly tried to get a video without it, but I just can't do it. Something about talking to a baby just brings the baby talk voice out ;)

Adelyn is 8 weeks old and is becoming so much more alert and aware. She smiles all the time and we are having a blast learning her sweet personality. Enjoy the video!

Fun times with fun friends!

Wednesday night my one of my best friends, Amy, came to visit. She has two girls as well. Lane is 5 days older than Katelyn and Landry is 1 day older than Adelyn (not we didn't plan it that way) :) Adelyn and Landry did a lot of laying around; hanging out together. By the way, this was Adelyn's 2 month birthday! Happy birthday my sweet baby!

We let the big girls play out on the slip-n-slide Thursday afternoon and they loved every second of it. They attempted to play catch, but honestly, it was more like fetch. One would throw the ball and the other would run get it, you get the picture.

Here they are splashing in the water together. It was hard to get a picture of them in the water because they were having such a good time they would not stay still longer than about 2 seconds.

Of course we had to get them matching shirts and have a little photo shoot. What cutie pies!

Awww, bff's hugging! They love each other (except when one has a toy the other one wants)!!!!
Some more lounge time for the two babies.
Some fun play time- Lane is brave to let Katelyn pull her in the wagon!
Hiding under the playscape in the back yard....
We also went to the sand park, but I didn't take the camera. We had a blast hanging out with our sweet friends. I wish they lived closer so we could hang out more often. Katelyn loves Lane. This morning when we were eating breakfast she asked when Lane was going to come play again!

Power Cooking Party!

When Jean was here after Adelyn was born she introduced me to 'power cooking'. She made us 8 meals that she put in a Ziploc and then froze. Now all I have to do is pull the Ziploc out of the freezer and stick it in the crockpot. I have enjoyed the meals so much that I decided I'd host a power cooking night with a few friends. Brandi and Laura came over with groceries in tow and in just under 2 hours we made 11 meals!!!!
(and no, I didn't have to hold Adelyn while cooking- my sweet hubby kept her entertained while we prepped the meals)

Here is the finished products all piled high in the freezer:
While I'm talking food- here is Katelyn's new favorite snack.
I bought a big box of go-gurt from Costco and frozen them. Now I just take one, cut it in 1/2 and Katelyn LOVES IT!!! Thanks to Jennie for the idea of freezing them.

Tu-Tu Tuesday

Katelyn has found the joy in playing dress-up! Today she wanted to wear her tu-tu that Aunt Stormi made for her. Thanks Stormi for the cute tu-tu, Katelyn keeps referring to it as her Stormi tu-tu :)

Bedtime is so much fun!

We are big fans of swaddling in our house! When Katelyn was a baby we swaddled her until she was at least 6 to 8 months old! We now swaddle Adelyn too and she is just as big of a fan as her sister was. Katelyn now likes to 'wrap-up' too! Of course she'll only stay like that for about 30 seconds before she breaks free.

Here is Jared with his two little burritos!

I love this picture of Katelyn holding Adelyn. You can tell by the look on KG's face that she loves her little sister so much! We prayed and prayed that Katelyn would adjust well to having a sister and the Lord answered those prayers! I'm so excited to see these girls grow up to be the best of friends!!!

SHHHH, she's sleeping!

Her favorite sleeping position, on her tummy with knees tucked up- Here she is searching for her thumb while napping in the pack-n-play.
...and for the record, she does usually sleep in her cradle, I just don't think to take pictures when she is sleeping there!

Dress-Up

Last week Katelyn decided she wanted to play a little dress-up. We had a good time dressing up like a ballerina, but it made me realize my baby girl is growing up! Her little imagination is so much fun! She always wants to have her 'phone' handy so she can call all her family and friends. Many of you don't realize that Katelyn talks to you multiple times a day. She is also such a girly-girl. She has her sunglasses, bracelets, watch and necklace that she would wear 24/7 if I let her! Here is our photo shoot from her dress-up play day (and yes, we left the house with her wearing this outfit) :)
