Sleepy Girl

After feeding and playing with Adelyn in the morning I give her about 15 mintues of 'room-time' where she can crawl around and play with a few toys by herself while I do a few things. She always enjoys this quiet time in her room before Katelyn gets up and will happily play for as long as I let her. One morning last week during her room-time I noticed I hadn't heard her 'talking' in a few minutes so I went to check on her. I found her like this:

Sweet girl must have been really sleepy to pass out on the floor like that! I left her there and she slept for almost an hour!

Pumpkin Patch 2010

This past Saturday I took the girls to Sweetberry Farms Pumpkin Patch in Marble Falls. We had a great time, but we missed having Jared there (he was in Dallas because he went to see the Rangers clinch the ALCS- world series, here we come!)
When we first arrived I decided to snap a few pumpkin pictures while Adelyn was still awake. As soon as I sat her down by the pumpkins, she was less than thrilled.

Katelyn wasn't exactly thrilled about having a photo session either, she wouldn't look at the camera and smile. Here she is posing and saying, "Howdy Folks!"
Next we headed over to the goats so that Katelyn could pet them and feed them. At first she was a little scared, but she quickly lightened up and had no fear. This is her face right after she fed one of them, can you tell how excited she was!!!-
Adelyn wasn't impressed with the goats and she fell asleep in the stroller-
Then we went to the clown cut out where Katelyn was more than happy to give me her best clown face-
The next stop was back to the goats where Katelyn fed them some more-
We went with a group from our Sunday School class and here is a group shot-
Before we headed back to Austin we stopped by the barrel train and let Katelyn ride. She loves trains right now so she thought this was pretty special. Plus she got to ride with her friend, Coralee, even better!

We were going to buy a few pumpkins, but we decided we'd wait and do that in Austin when Jared could join in the fun. All-in-all, it was a great daytrip with great weather and lots of fun. The only thing that could have made it better was if Jared was able to join us!

Princess Katelyn and Cinderella

Hey guys! It's me, Katelyn! You will never guess where Mommy and I went last week... Okay, maybe you will because it is in the title- that's right, Cinderella! We knew a girl from church who was playing the part of the fairy god-mother and mommy couldn't resist this opportunity for a mommy-daughter date night!

Since we were going to see a princess, I had to dress like one too! Here I am all ready to go, doing what any good princess does- TWIRL!

Daddy decided he and Adelyn would have a night in. I think he wasn't too excited about seeing Cinderella at a small community theater, so he was happy to stay at home with Adelyn so she could go to bed!

We met up with Miss Jennie and my bff Heidi for dinner at La Madeline and then headed to see the play.
After a yummy dinner, we headed to the theater for the play. I enjoyed the first half of the play, and thought it was over at intermission. When we went back to our seats after intermission I told mommy I was ready to go home and go to bed... and don't get me started on after the play! Mommy wanted me to go stand next to Cinderella, the fairy god-mother and the rest of the cast for pictures- I was NOT having it!!! I must have been afraid of them in all the make-up and costumes! Regardless of the scare of taking pictures with the cast and me wanting to go home early, I had a great night and am still talking about the play! I loved enjoying the night with my friend and Mommy was happy to have a friend too!

HSU Reunion 2010

This past weekend we went to Abilene for the good ole' HSU homecoming weekend (which is really just our yearly excuse to go hang out with the college family)! We stayed with Ben and Ashlee who are such gracious hosts!

Jeremy also stayed with Ben and Ashlee.

Saturday morning we loaded up and headed to HSU to have some fun. They had horses for the kids to ride, which Katelyn LOVED!

Had to take a family picture of where Jared and I met...
Here is Adelyn and Mommy-

We met Rocky, Amy and Brinley at HSU.

Katelyn and Brinley had a good time playing together!

Adelyn had a good time too, but it wore her out!

Ben took us on a tour of HSU and showed us all the things that have changed in the last 6 years. Katelyn found Jared's name on the alumni wall-
The guys went to Anderson dorm (where they lived freshman and sophmore year). Here they are in one of the newly renovated rooms.

After the tour of HSU we went to Harolds for some delicious bbq!
We are so thankful for our HSU family. We enjoyed the 4 years we spent there making memories and we enjoy getting together with them each year to make new memories!

I am 7 Months old!

Hey everyone, it's me, Adelyn! Today is my 7 month birthday. (well, yesterday because Mommy didn't post this until the 14th) This month has been very exciting for me! I have found my tongue and enjoy sticking it out, chewing on it, blowing bubbles... at least as best I can since I am tongue tied. I love to give big smiles that light up the room! I am still pretty laid back. I prefer to be able to see Mommy and sometimes fuss when she leaves me in a room by myself but after a few seconds I calm down and entertain myself until she returns. When Daddy gets home from work I give him a nice big grin to show my joy in his return. I do know who my mommy is and I am starting to be a little clingy, especially if I'm tired or hungry. I enjoy sitting in my highchair playing with toys while Mommy gets dinner ready. I have a pretty set bedtime routine. Mommy or Daddy carries me to my crib and sings me a night-night song. As soon as I hear the song I know I'm fixing to go to bed, so I snuggle my head into their shoulder and stick my thumb in my mouth. As soon as they lay me down I fuss for about 5 seconds then I roll over and off to dream land I go. Mommy says that when I snuggle into her shoulder it is her favorite part of the day!
I am eating like a pro. I have learned how to move the food to the back of my mouth to swallow without having to suck my thumb which makes the clean-up much easier. I like to eat banana, butternut squash, acorn squash, peaches, applesauce, and green beans. Mommy gave me avocado one day and I didn't like it very much. I pureed solids for lunch and dinner. When I am ready for a bite I say, "MMMMMMMMM" in a whiny voice. Mommy, Daddy and Katelyn are trying to teach me to sign 'more', but so far I am not picking it up! I always want to be chewing on something- if Katelyn happens to be the closest thing, I'll try to eat her- KG usually thinks it is pretty funny and will often lend a finger to chew on until Mommy realizes what is happening and says no thank you! I still don't have any teeth, but I'm sure they will be coming soon since I am chewing on everything in sight. The most exciting news this month is that I can now crawl! It is sort of an inchworm, face-plant, wiggle kind of crawl, but it gets me to where I want to go-

Happy 7 month birthday my little love bug. I can't wait to see all the fun things you do next month! Love you always and forever! Mommy

"Fried" Friday at the State Fair of Texas

This past weekend we had a weekend getaway to Dallas. We drove in Thursday night and stayed with Byron and Megan. Katelyn was so excited to see Uncle Byron and Aunt Meggie (and the dogs)!
Friday morning we got up and headed to the fair before it got too crowded. Those of you who are from Texas know the fair is really all about the food- the fried food! We started off the day with fried butter.

Adelyn was very sad, she wanted a bite too!

It was really pretty good, it tasted like a sopapilla.

Our next stop was for some chicken fried bacon. They took some bacon, gave it a thick batter and then deep fried it. It was okay, but 1/2 a slice was plenty for me. We ended up throwing most of it away because it was a little much!

We took a quick detour into the aquarium to let Katelyn look at the fish, sharks and stingray.
Adelyn was a happy camper being strapped on to Mommy and being carried by Daddy.

Our next stop was the butterfly museum.
After the butterfly's we decided it had been far too long since we ate anything fried, so we stopped off for the award winner of 2010- Fried Frito Pie

The Frito pie was good, but again, a little bit too much for me. I couldn't make a meal out of it! Our next stop was a family picture by big Tex.
As we were leaving he decided to greet us with a "Howdy Folks!" Let's just say Katelyn didn't appreciate the greeting. He was a little large for her liking! By this time we were thirsty and Adelyn was tired so she took a nap while we loaded up on some Coke.

Our next stop was for a turkey leg and fried snickers. The turkey leg was okay, I guess, but I wouldn't waste my money on it again. There is no pretty way to eat a turkey leg, but Jared makes it look good :)
The fried snickers however, worth every penny!!! This was by far my favorite treat of the day. I wanted to eat the whole thing by myself, but I shared with Jared and Katelyn, reluctantly! After the fair we went back to Byron and Megan's house for an afternoon nap. Then we went to visit some dear friends, Jaime, Aaron, and Makena! Katelyn and Makena don't remember, but they had many play dates before the Duncan family moved. It was so good to see all of them again!

After that brief visit we headed to see Kasey, one of by best friends from HSU. We stayed the weekend in her precious house. She has done a lot of work in her house and it is adorable!

Saturday for lunch we met up with Kacey Thornton and her newest addition, Anna Jay- talk about a precious baby!!!!
That night Kasey and I enjoyed a nice dinner out thanks to Byron and Megan watching Katelyn and Adelyn for me! What a sweet aunt and uncle!
While us girls were having a relaxing weekend, Jared met up with some of his HSU friends for a Rangers game and a weekend to catch up with the guys.
We had such a fun, crazy, busy, enjoyable weekend. I think we wore Katelyn out!
