Lake Brownwood Weekend

Last weekend we went to Lake Brownwood for a fun filled weekend with some dear friends. We had a blast seeing our HSU buddies as we always do! Here is Katelyn, Nolan (Derek and Jenny's little boy who is 1 month older than Adelyn), and Brinley (Rocky and Amy's little girl who just turned 1).

We stayed at Rocky's mom's lake house. She had a wagon that Katelyn quite enjoyed. She somehow managed to talk Verena (rocky's mom), Amy and me into taking her for a walk around the neighborhood.
Here is Adelyn and Nolan. They are only a month apart, but he looks quite a bit older to me. Nolan is a total gerber baby! He is precious!-
Brinley is getting her walking legs going and is just a doll. She is so happy all the time and full of energy, what a sweetie!

Brinley let Adelyn borrow her hat and you know what a hat means- photo shoot!!!
Katelyn also loved the swing in the back yard-

We are so blessed to have such good life-long friends. Amy, Rocky, Ben, Ashlee, Jeremy, Derek, Jenny, and Len (and all the friends who weren't there this weekend)- we love you guys, love the memories we made in college and the memories we continue to make at all of our HSU reunions!!!!

Great Hills Baptist Church Family swim night!

Last Sunday night was GHBC's annual family swim night. This was our first year to go and we had a great time! Katelyn has really gotten into swimming this summer. She has little fear of the water (which of course scares me because she can't swim yet). She is quite the pro of holding her breath and putting her head under water!
Katelyn loved the pool, especially the slide!

Jared was brave and jumped off the high dive. When Katelyn saw this picture she gasped and said, "Wow, Daddy is way up in the clouds!"

Adelyn hung out with me for the night. She loved walking around with Mommy watching all the big kids swimming. She also enjoyed chewing on her monkey lovey blanket!

Look at our little bubble machine

Adelyn has been practicing her bubble skills-

Now that is a massive flower!

Ashlee Johnson and I made some flower clippie's for the girls this past week. They were fun to make, but I might have gotten a little carried away with the size. Check this out-

Playin' in the Rain

Last week we had a nice little rain and I decided it would be fun to let Katelyn go play in the rain. She put on her rain "poots" and we headed out the door.

The rain "poots" lasted all of 3 minutes before she removed them from her little feet.

Here she is with a classic expression.

She then decided to "go for a jog" which entails running around the table. She literally did this for a good 10 minutes, stopping for a breather here and there.
Our fun outing ended in a panic when... (cue dramatic music)... MUD got on her toe!!!

Katelyn's Quote of the Month

On July 3rd we were standing around waiting for fireworks with some friends. Jared was holding Katelyn and out of the blue she turned to him and said, "Daddy, you are the best princess ever!" That has to be the quote of the month, or maybe even the quote of the year, you decide! Here is a photo from May 2008 of Katelyn and Princess Daddy :)

Happy 4 Month Birthday!

Today is Adelyn's 4 month birthday. I must say, these past four months have flown by and at the same time I feel like Adelyn has been in my life forever! So what is Adelyn up to these days? Let me tell you!
-She is a great eater and is gaining weight like a champ.
-She can roll over from her tummy to her back, but only does it in the middle of the night!
-She loves to sit and watch Katelyn run around.
-She has started sitting in the bumbo, but gets tired after a few minutes.
-She rarely is fussy. You can pretty much guarantee if she is fussy it is nap time or time to eat.
-She sleeps on her tummy, taking 3-4 naps a day. Bedtime is between 7 and 8 and she sleeps until 7 or 8 (eating at 10 and then again around 4). I wish she slept the whole time between feedings but she doesn't sleep all that soundly. She wakes pretty often wanting me to give her the pacifier. I'm thinking I'm fixing to get rid of the pacifier because I can't be getting up every 45 minutes to stick it back in her mouth. Neither she nor I am getting the sleep we need!
-She loves to go for walks/jogs in the stroller.
-She is very laid-back and sweet.

We are so blessed by Adelyn and so thankful the Lord picked us to be her Mommy and Daddy! Here is a video Jared took on Sunday of Adelyn giggling, enjoy! Ummmm, not sure if this worked or not, I guess we'll just see if the video works once I publish this post...

4th of July

I'll start off by saying a huge THANK YOU to all the men and woman who have served and who serve our great nation.

I posted last week with a picture of the girls dresses and I got a picture of Katelyn in the dress, but poor Adelyn- I didn't get her picture before she spit-up on the dress :( I'm sure she'll wear it again soon so I'll try to remember to post a picture of it. In the meantime, here is Katelyn in her dress and flower clippie-

We decided this year we would buy a few sparklers and kiddie fireworks so that Katelyn could enjoy the festivities. Here is Katelyn and Jared buying the fireworks, you can see just how excited Katelyn is...

We went to our Sunday school social on the 3rd for a cookout, fireworks show and fellowship with friends. Here is Adelyn all ready to go in her not so festive purple outfit-

The kids ran, played, ran some more, played a little more before the neighborhood fireworks show began. Katelyn played her first game of red light/green light. She loved it, even though she had no clue what she was doing. She just liked being out there with the big kids!

Here is Katelyn and her buddy Chase, they were playing and he started dragging her around like a ragged doll.

Just kidding! She just fell as I took the picture but it sure looks like he is dragging her around! Here is the whole gang all waiting around for the fireworks to begin-

Then there is Katelyn (completely drenched in sweat from all the running around) and Adelyn patiently waiting for the big show-
I tried to take pictures of the firework show but it just turned out looking like a weird UFO... After the neighborhood firework show we went back to the Deans house for some sparkler fun.

The next morning we went to church. Here is Katelyn and I ready for church-

One of the best parts of the weekend was that it wasn't over on Sunday! Jared had Monday off so we got an extra day with him at home! We went for a run, we swam and we had a great time as a family! My sweet family is such a blessing to me, Thank you Lord for my precious husband and my two sweet babies!

Happy Birthday and Growing Girls

Last week was my 28th birthday. Jared and Katelyn baked me an angel food cake, cut some strawberries and topped it with whipped cream. It was delicious (and entertaining watching Jared work his way around the baking world)!

I can't believe how fast Adelyn is growing and how much Katelyn has grown-up. Katelyn loves to play with Adelyn and Adelyn quite enjoys watching KG run around! Here is Katelyn buckling AE up in the bouncer seat- she is always mommy's little helper!

Here is a close-up of AE. I keep waiting for her eyes to turn brown, but they are still a grayish-greenish-brownish mix.

My smiley girls-

Here is KG playing with her basketball hoop... not exactly what it is meant for, but she was having fun!

Then Jared swinging Katelyn-

And last, Adelyn and me just cuddling-

The latest project

I finally got the old sewing machine out for a fun project today. I don't think I've sewn anything since Adelyn was born (expect her diaper bag). I thought since the 4th of July was coming up I should make the girls matching pillowcase dresses and hair clips. Katelyn helped make the clips this morning and then both girls napped long enough for me to make the dresses. I love that I can make a pillowcase dress in under an hour (at least with my rapid speed of sewing... Pedal to the medal is my sewing motto) I'm very pleased with the final outcome of the dresses so I thought I'd share...

I'm sure I'll take pictures this weekend when the girls are actually wearing the dresses, so I'll post those next week!
